Anesthesiologists also face many ethical guidelines and challenges that they must follow. Even though they have a vast medical knowledge they are not allowed to restrain or coerce any patient who is adequately capable of making a decision on their own. They have to allow the patient to make their own decisions even if they feel they are not making the best decision. This could cause frustration for a doctor who feels a patient isnt making the best decision possible. Along with this they must watch over the anesthetized patients from gross and disrespectful behavior that may occur. Other ethical considerations they must deal with are making sure they administer the correct dosage of medication or else the patient may be exposed to harmful amounts of the drugs. They must also manage the patient's reactions with certain medications in case they have negative reactions or are allergic and could therefore make the condition of the patient worse. They are responsible for the overall care of the patient before, during, and after any kind of procedure and make sure they are in stable condition.
